MIDD opportunities for cell therapy in oncology

Unlocking cell therapy potential in oncology with the power of Model-Informed Drug Development.

Webinar overview

Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-T cell therapies have transformed the treatment of hematological malignancies. However, developing these "living drugs" presents a unique challenge. Unlike small molecules or conventional biologics, CAR-T cells actively proliferate inside the patient. This means standard dose-optimization strategies, where a higher dose typically leads to higher exposure, cannot be applied.

To successfully develop current and future cell therapies, the industry must apply tailored quantitative tools. Importantly, commonly used empirical models are not designed to predict how these therapies will behave prospectively under conditions that differ from those used for model building. Instead, frameworks that consider the biological drivers of cellular expansion are needed to support extrapolations and simulations of unobserved scenarios.

Dr. Anna Mc Laughlin will explore how to apply Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD) to cell therapy in oncology.

Key topics covered

In this webinar we will review the fundamentals of CAR-T cell kinetics and why conventional dose optimization falls short, as well as Biological and clinical factors that drive exposure and response and properties of a fit-for-purpose MIDD framework for cell therapy.

Join our webinar to:

  • Learn which practical methods to apply MIDD frameworks to solve key hurdles in cell therapy development.

  • Walk through a mechanism-based population PK case study in hematological malignancies.

  • Learn how this quantitative foundation can support future portfolio decisions, such as cross-indication bridging and cross-modality translation.
