Siv Jönsson develops Pharmetheus’s learning agenda

Siv Jönsson, a Senior Consultant based at Pharmetheus’ office in Uppsala, Sweden, has many years’ experience as an academic and uses it to develop Pharmetheus’s Learning agenda.

Why did you initially join Pharmetheus?

"It was a good time for a change of scenery for me, and Pharmetheus was the obvious choice. I had heard really good things about the company, I knew some of the founders and people who worked there. Before I joined Pharmetheus, I had worked for many years in the pharmaceutical industry, at the Swedish Drug Regulatory Authority, and in academia, experiences which served as a good foundation for consultancy work."

What is the Learning agenda?

"The Learning agenda team consists of five people, representing different parts of the company. We define what the organization needs in terms of skills and how we can develop those skills. We organize seminars and lectures with internal and external experts and lecturers. We aim to align business needs with what our colleagues want to learn more of. There is of course a focus on our core business, MIDD, and scientific topics, but we also facilitate soft skills, like communication. The Learning Agenda team encourages people to come to us with ideas and we help bring those ideas to life."

Which are your professional guiding principles?

"My main principle is to always communicate, and collaborate with each other. I also live by sharing knowledge with colleagues. That’s essential. It’s also important to be respectful of each other and to be kind. If someone has done a good job, tell them! You don’t have to exaggerate, but always give credit where credit is due. It’s that simple."

How are Pharmetheus’ core values reflected in your work?

"For me, one of our values, dedication, means taking full responsibility for the task you have been given. Collaboration means many things – being respectful towards one another and to put our accumulated knowledge and experience to the best use in each project. Integrity is to live by ethical and scientific principles."

What do you enjoy most about working at Pharmetheus?

"What I like most about my workplace is the people. They’re a great group: smart and dedicated to their work. Pharmetheus is a good employer, which contributes to a positive atmosphere. I also enjoy working with the services we provide to our clients. I like that we contribute to patients getting the medicines they need a little faster and with better outcomes than if we hadn’t been involved."

What is your proudest moment at Pharmetheus so far?

"I’m a little proud of our company all the time. Proud that we are growing, and that what we do is appreciated by others. I also feel pride when we publish high-quality papers, and when one of my colleagues gives an interesting presentation at a conference."

What do you do in your spare time?

"In my spare time I sing in a choir. My daughter is active in a local athletics club where I volunteer as a referee and coach. I like to be at home and relax with my family, enjoy great food and exercise – like outdoor running."
