Workshop: Introduction to PK-Sim

Physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling is a powerful approach in drug development. This workshop provides hands-on training in PBPK modeling using the Open Systems Pharmacology Suite (PK-Sim® & MoBi®).

Overview

This workshop introduces PBPK modeling using PK-Sim® & MoBi®, covering fundamental principles, practical applications, and real-world case studies. Participants will explore best practices for PBPK modeling, understand age-related extrapolations, and apply drug-drug interaction (DDI) modeling in clinical drug development.

Workshop goals

Provide a solid foundation in PBPK principles and applications, equipping participants with the necessary knowledge to integrate PBPK modeling into their research and development projects.

Workshop learning objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Gain an introduction to PBPK modeling using PK-Sim® & MoBi®.
  • Understand how PBPK models are applied to small molecule investigations in clinical drug development.
  • Learn to perform age-dependent extrapolation for pediatric and elderly populations.
  • Model complex drug-drug interactions (DDIs) in PK-Sim® & MoBi®.

Participants must bring a laptop with the required software installed (PK-Sim® & MoBi®). Basic knowledge of pharmacokinetics and modeling is recommended but not required.
