Workshop: PBPK absorption modeling with the OSP Suite (PK-Sim®, MoBi®)

Physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) absorption modeling plays a crucial role in understanding how drugs are absorbed through various routes of administration. This workshop provides hands-on training in using PK-Sim® and MoBi® to model absorption for oral, subcutaneous, lung, dermal, and ocular administration.

Overview

This workshop offers a comprehensive exploration of PBPK absorption modeling using the OSP Suite (PK-Sim® and MoBi®). Participants will learn how to model various absorption routes, establish IVIVR relationships, and optimize bioavailability studies using virtual populations. The session also covers the design and execution of virtual bioequivalence trials, with a focus on route-switching and population-based modeling strategies.

Workshop goals

Equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills to apply PBPK absorption modeling to different routes of administration and optimize drug development strategies.

Workshop learning objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the principles and applications of PBPK absorption modeling using PK-Sim® and MoBi®
  • Learn how to set up and validate PBPK models for various routes of absorption, including oral, subcutaneous, lung, dermal, and ocular
  • Gain skills in establishing IVIVR using WB-PBPK models
  • Learn to design bioavailability studies with virtual populations and optimize these studies for real-world scenarios
  • Conduct virtual bioequivalence trials and assess the impact of different administration routes

Target audience

Basic knowledge of pharmacokinetics and modeling principles is recommended but not mandatory.

Workshop requirements

Participants should bring their own laptops with the required software (PK-Sim® and MoBi®) installed.
